Things to do

Mt Warning summit track.
This is a steep 4km climb (one way) with well-made tracks and is not for the faint hearted. The walk takes 4 to 5 hours return, so leave early and take refreshments. Ensure you have sensible footwear as the last stage is a near vertical scramble. The temperature drops rapidly as you ascend.
The view from the summit is quite amazing and worth all the effort!
The ancient forests that occur within these National Parks are a window to the past. Look out for Booyongs, Carabeens, Brush Box and Flame Trees.
You may see a variety of reptiles and birds also. Over 100 bird species have been recorded in these forests, including the rare and endangered Wompoo Pigeon, Marbled Frogmouth and Alberts Lyrebird.
Camping, fires and dogs are not permitted. Toilets are only available at the start of this trail.
Note also that the Bundjalung people prefer you not to climb this sacred mountain. If you do, please make sure that you treat the mountain with due respect and that there are no traces of your visit left behind.

We were startled recently by three young (and fit) German tourists who had run down the mountain in record time! Don’t try it unless you have the physique of an Olympian and rubber shock absorber knees besides!
