Life drawing...life therapy! Today we rush around with our cameras, trying to record and keep the things that are important to us....however that is almost the least sophisticated way to record and understand the things that matter to us. Taking time to draw or paint and making our brains slow down to really understand what we see is the real way to keep a memory or an image.
If youre a beginner, drawing with other people may be daunting but its also very stimulating and stretching. Imerse yourself in the creative pond and forget about how good or bad you think you may be...that is not the point. Just do it.
Its fun. Its healthy.
Ruskin said that, in the process of recreating with our own hand what lies before our eyes, we seem to naturally move from a position of observing beauty in a loose way to one where we acquire a deep understanding of its constituent parts and hence more secure memories of it.
