The area around Uki is lush with rainforest.
There are thirteen national parks, seven nature reserves, two marine parks and two conservation areas within a day trip from our village.
Uki is nestled in the foothills of Mount Warning National Park, the heart of this World Heritage listed park is the remnant central plug of an ancient volcano, known to the local Bundjalung people as Wollumbin, a place of great significance, cultural lore and spiritual education.
Under Bundjalung law, only certain people can climb the mountain, and out of respect for their law and culture, the Bundjalung ask that you consider not climbing Wollumbin.
If you choose to do so be aware that the track is a steep 9km return trip with a challenging rock scramble at the end.
As an alternative you can stroll the 200m Lyrebird track through lush palm forest to a platform set amongst lush subtropical rainforest abundant with birds, or picnic at the Korrumbyn creek picnic area.
