Turn off the TV! This is another of the quirky etched tiles we found attached to the wall of our local library.
I rather think that our teenagers would find it impossible to dispense with the technological trappings of their busy lives and listen to the past, as Virginia Woolf suggests.
No human being in history is more connected to the wider world, than our teenage daughter. There`s the phone and the internet and the shared music files and the myspaces and the pod casts and the ipod and the e-mail and the mobile phone and the camera and the laptop.....it all seems so intrusive and pointless.
So much information and activity!
However, those of us of a certain age who have known the world without a TV, ...with a piano or a guitar, ...with a paintbrush and a pencil, ...with letter writing skills and the ability to absorb ideas through books or discussion....well I`m not so sure we are not in the very best position to make a judgement on all this.
So turn off the TV and let`s get painting!
Hope you enjoy the amusing comment from Bart Simpson!
