Living the Life

10hr round trip Uki to Murwillumbah!
The other day on our way back from the shopping and the banking and all that stuff...we passed this man in his hand-made cart journeying back to Uki.
It is an eye opener to me that such contentment can exist in the hustle and bustle of the commercial world. Here he was doing exactly what we were doing...travelling to town to get monthly provisions. The beautiful difference is that a docile Brahman bull is the engine of this vehicle and I`m perfectly sure that there is no lease or bank finance on the capital purchase.
The pace is about 3 Km per hour ...just a bit slower than walking, but you have the shade of the canopy and you can stretch out and take the occasional nap if that pleases you. At other times strangers stop for a chat and even go for a ride for a few Ks, as I did. You hardly seem to care at all, that this mode of transport is very rare in the mad world of rushing about that consumes most of the rest of us.
The very fact that you can comfortably plan a 10hr round trip to town, when for most of us its a 35minute round trip dash by car, is very powerful, and puts things into some useful perspective.

It may not be the way for all of us, but it is rather a shining example that we should not make assumptions about our inability to change and enrich our lives.
